The lint trap is not the whole vent
The screen in the dryer door catches only part of the lint. The rest travels through the hose and the vent line to an exterior or roof cap. In high-rises that line can be long, and lint packs the elbows first.
The U.S. Fire Administration reports that failure to clean is the leading factor in home clothes dryer fires. A clogged vent also means hot, long cycles and extra wear on the dryer. How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
About once a year for a typical household, sooner if you dry heavy loads every day or the run is long.
Do you clean the dryer itself?
We clean the vent system. We do not rebuild the dryer. If the internal blower is failing, an appliance tech should look at the machine.
What if the vent is crushed in the wall?
We will show you. A crushed or disconnected line needs repair or a new run, which we will describe rather than pretend brushing will fix it.
